Summary
Saumitra Singh’s 2024 Hindi crime thriller, House of Lies, debuted on ZEE5 on May 31, 2024. Sanjay Kapoor Assumes The Role Of Special Investigating Officer Rajveer Singh Chaudhary, a seasoned and meticulous detective brought in to address the case, which had attracted a significant amount of media attention. Alongside him are Abhay Mathur inspector and ED officer Shashi who assist as the case goes deeper into the financial and social webs of Albert’s life. In the course of the investigation, it becomes clear that the guests at the party had plenty of reasons to get rid of Albert because it is as if the guests came prepared to kill him.
As the investigation unfolds, several secrets come to light: infidelity, financial disputes, vengeful longstanding grudges, and questionable crypto transactions. What the hosts did not expect to be a celebration shift into a cauldron of suspicion, betrayal, and shocking truths. The deeper the detectives delve, the more convoluted the set of clues becomes. They now have to deal with a wider array of suspects who have started to increase the amount of lies being told to cover their truth.

Sanjay’s performance as Rajveer Singh Chaudhary was well-received. While dealing with the most high profile crimes of each season all of the characters needed quite a bit of attention, voice and usually was exasperated when doing so. I loved the fact that he was not uptight, unlike the rest of the detectives, and was so calm, cool and collected.
Rituraj Singh as Albert Pinto
Even though Albert dies early on, his presence is felt throughout the film. His character was complex and charming, as Rituraj Singh plays a figure both revered and hated. Flashbacks and witness accounts show a man whose ambition undoubtedly contributed to his demise.
Hiten Paintal as Inspector Abhay Mathur
Adding more emotion and impulse to Rajveer’s character, Abhay brings a level of urgency to the case. Many of his interactions with the suspects reveal the underlying tensions that the other detective prefers to keep bottled up.
Simran Kaur Suri as ED Officer Shashi
Shashi explores Albert’s lower level financing and cryptocurrency laundering busts that pertain to the investigation as part of the financial wing. A woman possessing keen intelligence blended with dry humor, her character adds complexity to the investigative nature of the movie.

The film explores the intensifying fears surrounding digital monetary assets, most notably cryptocurrency, analyzing how it serves as both advancement and corruption. Albert’s triumph in this sphere makes him being called a visionary by some while others consider him a fraud.
As directed by Saumitra Singh, the film leans heavily into classic tropes of murder mysteries. It features a cast of characters, a single setting, and shifting motives that call to mind Agatha Christie stories. Achieving the right pace for the mystery while developing the characters is always a challenge, and this film does so, albeit mildly.
Lighting techniques further increase tension during the interrogation scenes. Employing dimly lit spaces makes suspects appear claustrophobically enclosed. The house transforms from a symbol of success and grandeur to a prison of unfiltered truth.
House of Lies faced criticism upon release, as results were deemed either mixed or negative. The film suffered from a lack of execution even though it held an intriguing premise, transforming potential into predictability and underdeveloped character arcs. Reviewers highlighted this concerning factor, which overshadowed the decent cast the movie had.
Visual storytelling felt non existent and exposition overbearing, posing as the sole storytelling device.
